Configuration

Markdrip’s settings are available from the in-app Settings screen. This page summarizes what each area controls.

Settings has separate category pages and a search field that takes you to the matching setting. Your last category is remembered.

Recording

Choose your microphone, optional system audio, and meeting detection preferences. Detection can offer a recording prompt; check your recording preference before expecting a meeting to start automatically.

Fast (English) is an optional on-device transcription choice under Settings → Recording. Selecting it downloads about 470 MB when its files are missing, after any required consent. No recording is sent. Progress and retry actions appear in Settings; Standard stays available during setup. Previously saved connection restrictions still apply. Once the files are ready, Fast can work without a connection.

Transcripts & summaries

Manage on-device components, speaker identification, remembered voices, and summaries here. Downloads are explicit actions. Installed components can run without a connection.

AI providers

All content tasks start on This device. Connect a supported service, preview a provider preset, and approve each task you want it to handle. Unsupported tasks stay local. Advanced controls let you override the suggested model for a task. Your provider account and API billing are separate from your Markdrip plan and from consumer chat subscriptions. Activity and estimated costs stay on your device; unavailable usage is not shown as zero cost.

Work offline keeps Cloud processing: Off (on-device processing). License and update checks, downloads, and enabled usage reporting work independently of this processing choice. Turning cloud processing on does not grant a provider access to content until you approve a supported task.

An existing connection restriction from an earlier version, or one enforced by your organization, remains in place. Changing the processing choice does not remove that restriction. If you previously disabled all connections, you can explicitly resume service connections in Settings; organization rules still apply.

Privacy & storage

Choose the notes folder, review what is saved locally, erase remembered voices, and control Share basic usage data. Usage reporting is independent of AI providers and licensing. It is offered before the first connection and uses regional defaults: on outside EEA/UK, prior opt-in inside EEA/UK. Unknown or unconfigured policies do not silently enable reporting.

Your notes are readable files on your disk. Markdrip does not separately encrypt the folder; use your computer’s disk encryption and account password. A folder managed by a cloud-drive app may sync through that app. Changing the notes folder asks whether to move existing notes or keep folders separate. Your saved choice remains after restart. General and your plan

General includes automatic update checks and downloads, and a manual check. You confirm installation and restart. Your plan shows Free or Plus and opens the billing portal for subscription management.

Agent access

Agent access is disabled by default. When you enable it, compatible tools can query your whole configured vault through MCP. Read-only is the default and is included in Free. With Plus, explicitly choose Read / Write to allow immediate supported changes to contact details, meeting titles and tags, and tasks. Earlier proposal-only permissions never become immediate write permission automatically. Per-content selection is not available. See Agents to learn about the available tools and limits.

Calendar

Connect a calendar from Today, Meetings, or Settings → Connections. Choose local calendar access or a supported remote account, then select the calendars Markdrip may read. Local access needs operating-system permission; remote accounts require their own authorization.

If macOS has not asked yet, enabling Use local calendars requests access. If access was denied, choose Open System Settings, review Privacy & Security → Calendars, then return and choose Check access. Markdrip cannot grant itself permission.

A remote provider may offer Use calendars on this Mac when direct sign-in is unavailable in your version. Use the account through macOS Calendar instead. Review connections means a saved network restriction is pausing online calendars; opening that setting does not automatically enable connections.

Upcoming events can provide the meeting title and invited people. Select Prepare meeting to add an agenda and notes before recording. These are saved on this device and remain when a calendar is disconnected. Forget calendar data clears calendar-derived note details while preserving your manual work. If event details are included in notes, an explicitly permitted AI task may share them within that task’s disclosed scope. Calendar access does not grant permission to share recordings or saved voices.

Free, Plus, and removing a license

Free includes recording, transcription, summaries, Ask, naming speakers within a meeting, and exports. Remembering voices across meetings is included in Plus. Paid actions show a Plus label before you begin; Get Plus opens the purchase page, and Activate a license lets you import a license file.

When Plus is active, Settings → Your plan shows Manage subscription and Remove license from this device. Sign-in, license import and Get Plus are offered while the device is on Free, so an active subscriber is not asked to activate or buy again.

Choose Remove license from this device to return to Free. Your recordings, notes, speaker names, and saved voices remain. Plus processing stops, and you can activate a license again later. Removing a license does not cancel billing; use Manage subscription for that.

Activate from your account

The next app release adds Sign in and activate under Settings → Your plan. This flow requires the matching account service update and is not yet available on the live service. Until it is available, download your license from your account and use Import a license.

When available, sign in in your browser, compare its code with the app, and confirm which active license to use. Keep the app open while it receives the license. Your account password stays in the browser; no meeting content is sent. The request expires after five minutes. Cancel or close the app’s activation window to stop it; start again if it expires or the service is unavailable.

Insights and personal coaching

Plus includes contact interaction history and My coach at the existing price. Choose the meetings to include, then choose on-device processing or explicitly approved cloud text insights. Context notes and agent access have separate sharing controls. Free keeps context notes editable and uses fictional Plus previews. See Insights and My coach.
