Choose where AI tasks run

Open Settings → AI providers. Work offline is on by default, with Cloud processing: Off. AI processing stays on this device. Separately enabled service connections can still run. Every task starts on This device, and search stays local. Turn off Work offline before choosing an external text task; each task still needs its own permission.

Connect a supported service with your API credentials. A provider preset previews the tasks that service supports and suggested defaults. Review each task and approve its recipient and shared data before saving. Unsupported tasks remain local; a preset does not silently choose a different provider. Advanced controls let you override the suggested model for a supported task.

Your API account and its charges are separate from your Markdrip plan. A consumer chat subscription, including Claude or Codex access, is not itself an API key.

The confirmation in the app is authoritative for the selected task and provider. Live transcription, recorded-audio transcription, speaker separation and saved-voice recognition always run locally. Recordings, voiceprints, acoustic information and voice-derived interpretations never go to an AI provider. Text permission cannot override this boundary. Feature availability also depends on your plan and the configured provider.

Provider activity is saved on your device: completed or failed requests, audio minutes where available, and estimated costs when usage and pricing are known. An estimate is not an invoice. Missing usage is shown as unavailable, not zero. These records contain no meeting content or credentials and are not sent as Markdrip product-usage measurements. Clearing history does not change a provider’s bill or delete data it already received.

Switch a task back to This device or disconnect the provider to stop future sharing. Changing a setting cannot recall data already sent; the provider’s retention, training, and deletion terms apply. See Privacy.
