Capture and vault settings

Choose capture sources

In Settings → Recording, choose the microphone Markdrip records from. You can also enable system audio when you need to capture remote participants in a call. Your operating system may ask for permission before either source is available.

Choose a vault location

In Settings → Privacy & storage, select the local folder where Markdrip saves Markdown notes. The rebuildable SQLite search index is stored separately in Markdrip’s local application-data directory, outside the portable vault. You can use a folder managed by your own file-sync tool, but Markdrip does not upload or sync vault contents itself.

Select Browse… or enter a folder, then choose Save folder. The Transcripts saving to line shows the folder currently in use. Your choice remains after you leave Settings or restart the app. Use default restores the default location.

If the current folder contains notes, Markdrip asks whether to move them or keep the folders separate. Review that choice before switching. A folder selected at launch can lock this setting; the app explains how to restart without that override. Folder changes are unavailable during recording.

If a saved folder becomes unavailable, Markdrip shows a warning and uses the default folder for new notes until you fix the location.

Change settings later

Changing a source or vault location does not change the privacy defaults: content processing remains local unless you separately choose an AI provider. For the full data promise, read Privacy.
